Description

In addition to sailing on Viedma Lake, we can add the excitement of trekking with crampons and practicing ice climbing on Argentina´s largest glacier. Its deep cracks, sinkholes and frosty walls invite us to live a different and unique experience for people who love adventure in nature.

Itinerary

We will sail from the Bahía in a southerly direction. The depth of the lake permits a lovely boat ride close to the coast, allowing you to observe the massifs Mount Huemul.

We will land on a rocky promontory on the edge of Viedma Glacier. We walk up the promontory to the glacier where technical equipment will be assigned. The guides will begin to take us to the climbing area. Here the group will practice dodging sinkholes and cracks. Technical equipment and safety mechanisms will then be explained and the full day of activities will begin.

The mountain guides will teach us the basic techniques of ice climbing in an informative way that allows us to learn quickly. We will be able to go up a couple of different ice walls to practise.

During the excursion we will have a break for lunch. In the afternoon, after a full day of adrenalin, we will return to the boat and sail back to the port Bahia Túnel and then to El Chaltén

The Bahía Túnel port is located 18 km from El Chaltén, so if you do not have your own vehicle, we advise that you reserve transport there and back. If you have any questions, ask us.
