We leave El Chaltén on an unpaved road in 4x4 heading towards Desierto Lake (40km away). On arrival we will go to various viewpoints to admire the view of the lake and then we will head up to the Huemul glacier and lagoon perched on the slopes of Mount Vespignani.

Itinerary

The path starts at Desierto Lake and goes up the left hand side of a stream that is coming down from Laguna Huemul. It takes about 45 minutes to climb the 2km to the lagoon. On the way we will get some great views of the valley below, Mount Fitz Roy, etc.
This option is ideal for those who don’t have a lot of time or don’t feel physically able to do any of the other walking options that Walk Patagonia offers
