We leave El Chaltén on an unpaved road in a 4x4 heading towards Desierto Lake (40km away). On arrival we will go to various viewpoints to admire the view of the lake and then we will embark on the boat trip.

Itinerary

This relaxing trip is perfect for people who are not able to walk all day but who do want to see some beautiful scenery and take some great photographs.

The boat trip is about 30 minutes, one way; it starts at the southern end of the lake and takes you to the northern end. While on the boat it will be possible to see the Huemul glacier on the slopes of Mount Vespignani and Mount Creston. The lush green forest surrounding the lake is made up of lengas and guindos.

At the northern end of the lake there is the possibility of disembarking and doing a short walk to the Centinela viewpoint, which has an impressive view of the lake and Mount Fitz Roy in the background. This is an interesting spot where there have been border problems with Chile in the past. After a snack we will return to El Chaltén.
