A fantastic experience of trekking on one of the most famous glaciers in Patagonia combined with a Tyrolean rope across the Fitz Roy River and an ice climb. To access the glacier we trek through beautiful forests and will encounter a multitude of views.
Itinerary
We leave El Chaltén at 7am and walk for 2.5hours to Laguna Torre. Here, the guides will help everyone put on a harness so that we can cross over the Tyrolean rope over the Fitz Roy River. We then walk along the lateral moraine of Laguna Torre and we then hike up part of Mount Solo for about an hour until we arrive at Torre Glacier. Once we arrive, we put on our crampons and start the 3 hour adventure on an incredible glacier. We will see great glacial formations like, seracs, deep crevasses, beautiful coloured lagoons, streams and ice caves. The icing on the cake to this fantastic day is the possibility of a 20m ice climb (only if weather permits). After some lunch we then head back to El Chaltén.
The trek takes around 10/12 hours. This day could be combined with camping at Agostini campground.
